Video consultation course information

Video consultation and adoption of technology has been a hot topic both clinically and politically. Primary care is encouraged to adopt innovative consultation methods. In addition to the traditional day to day GP provision. There is still a reluctance amongst clinicians to adopt video consulting due to lack of experience, and beliefs about perceived medicolegal risks.

Please read on for further information, booking form links for this course can be found further down the page.

There is a need to understand the potential challenges and regulatory requirements to ensure that remote consultation pathways are safe and effective. Providers need to demonstrate that the new channels of access for patients’ have been implemented within a ‘well-led’ approach.

Our course incorporates simulation within workshops, where delegates can have hands on experience within a safe environment to witness and experience the pressure of dealing with video consulting and its associated challenges.

This course would help practices to overcome the challenges and difficulties in delivering this new type of consultation. Delegates will gain an understanding and a practical approach on how to implement video consultations in their daily practice.

Key Aims:

  • Increase confidence in delivering video consultations
  • Understand regulatory (i.e. CQC) requirements for video consultation pathways
  • Demonstrate clinical examples where online consulting is safe and effective
  • Awareness of requirements to ensure prescribing across online platform is in line with guidance.
  • Peer discussion on how to introduce video consulting as a part of the choice of pathways for patients’, and how to navigate patients’ towards Telemedicine.
  • How to measure safety and quality in relation to Telemedicine

Who Should attend:

This workshop has been funded for Lincolnshire GP providers to enable them to implement video consultations within their clinical settings. It is anticipated that each GP provider would have 2 delegate spaces. Providers can choose which staff members are most suitable, but we would recommend that at least one (of the two) delegates from each provider is a clinician. Those attending should ideally be involved in implementing video consultation within the provider setting following attendance at this course.

Suitable for: GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Practice nurses, Paramedics, Practice senior management, Practice Pharmacists.
